Department of English – earlier a part of the Post Graduate Extension Centre, Madurai Kamaraj University, from 1982 - is one of the very first departments established in our University in 1990 with an objective to empower the learners through the study of English language and literature, to improve their overall potential for their career prospects and thereby to contribute to nation building with a spirit of universal humanism. Besides offering post graduate and pre-doctoral courses in English Literary Studies, the Department carries out researches on the current trends in Literature and Language Studies.
